When I go into TV setup and get to the point where I search for a signal, I get solid black in the signal box. I tried changing the signal from channel 4, to channel 3 and no luck. I also tried S-video 1 and every other option, but nothing works. I have coax going from the STB to a Avermedia MCE 500 dual TV tuner.

The noise generated by the TV tuner card may also be interfering with the return data signal since you don't mention having put a highpass filter on it. A filter is standard on the cable TV decoder box, and it may also be proper to put a highpass filter on the tuner card (although I have heard differing opinions on

First of all, just to clear up: I was not talking about signal stealing or anything like that. My cable company has no problem with me using the cable feed to watch it on more than one TV set, and I do pay for cable service.
